Quality Data

For nearly 30 years, University Health Consortium has been a catalyzing force in supporting academic medical centers (AMCs) in their efforts in fostering new ideas. UCH's transparent database features data from more than 200 hospitals, many of which, such as UCLA, are listed as honor roll hospitals in U.S. News & World Report. UCH's recent data has shown UCLA Medical Center to rank favorably in the Stroke Mortality Index (our mortality rate is relatively low) and high the Stroke Severity Index (we see some of the worst strokes). Our observed stroke patient mortality has been trending down for 2 years - while stroke severity was trending up. UCLA sees some of the highest severity stroke patients nationwide and therefore would be expected to exhibit less than favorable outcomes. In fact, UCLA Medical Center is in the lowest 10th percentile of mortality given our severity index which puts UCLA at number 9 out of the 122 United States UHC academic medical centers. This equates to actual lives being saved.
